Jen
Q3. (Colossians 1:28-2:1) What is the purpose of Paul's labors according to verse 28? What does "perfect in Christ" mean? How does Paul accomplish this goal? In what way is he "struggling" for them? Paul wanted to present them perfect (mature) in Christ. He didn't want to just bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ and leave them there the same way. He wanted maturity (perfection) for His Lord and for the saints. He wanted the body of Christ which is His church to reflect the Head which is Christ. Paul was not content with presenting a half-baked mess. What does "walk before me and be holy mean?" I think it means genuine sincerity in being the best we can for our Lord. We will never be perfect in this world but we keep being perfected. He accomplished his goal through preaching and admonishing and through much wrestling for them in prayer. God Bless! janel
Q3 Paul's purpose is to bring Christians under his influence, to maturity in Christ. "Perfect in Christ" means meeting the highest standard or pertaining to being mature, fully developed in a moral sense. By coming to a level of relatively maturity in Christ when he presents his converts and disciples to God as the fruit of his labor and are proud of them. Paul struggling is in prayer and agonizing long-term intercession on their behalf.
haar
Paul's purpose is to help the Church become mature and be Christ-like, preparing them for heaven. We cannot achieve perfection here on earth, however Paul's effort was to see that we daily grow towards perfection, towards being more and more like Christ. Paul achieved his purpose through teaching, preaching publically and proclaimeing the Word of Truth, the Word of God wherever he went and also counseling people in groups or one to one. Paul struggle was through praying relentlesly for the Church.

Paul's purpose is is to admonishing, teaching with all wisdom that he may present to God mature Christians. 2. What does "perfect in Christ" mean? I think it means that the Christians that he is accountable for are growing in stature and in wisdom, are loving their neighbors like themselves, are witnessing and spreading the gospel, ministering and loving each other, etc. 3. How does Paul accomplish this goal? By admonishing, teaching with all wisdom. a. Proclaim - to preach in public where ever he goes. b. Admonishing - warning, instruct, counsel, in private maybe small group or one on one. c. Teaching - informal or formal setting everyday with all he comes across daily. And by using his wisdom and applying the appropriate teaching according to the believers maturity. 4. In what way is Paul "struggling" for them. His hearts desire is to be consistent in praying for the believers, a very important responsibility for a leader. Knowing the importance of whole heartedly consistent prayer can be very consuming and at many times can be a struggle to pray with that same consistent importance, never giving up on your fellow believers. jacquie7
Paul labors to teach everyone the knowledge and wisdom needed to become perfect in Christ. This means to become mature and fully developed in Christ. He does this by preaching, teaching, and admonishing the gospel so people would grow and developed in their spiritual lives. Paul struggled in prayer for the perfection of the Colossae church and against opposition that surfaced from the false teachings and philosophies.
