pickledilly Posted May 15, 2010 Report Share Posted May 15, 2010 Jesus the Christ in the flesh on earth was completely and fully Deity. He was/is God. Period. When we come to Christ in repentance and submission, we are united/infused with Him as His Spirit comes to dwell in us. God fully gives all of Himself to us, although we could never contain all of Him. (And according to the command of Ephesians 5:18 to be filled with the Spirit, our attitudes, motives, choices, and activities have something to do with how much our personal "vessel" will be filled.) This means that through the Spirit, every attribute and strength of God has been fully joined to our spirit. What a thought! Through the Spirit we are holy, righteous, victorious. We can love as Christ loves us. We have the peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control of His character. We are capable of doing the good works the Father has prepared for us. We are of the very mind of Christ. We can sacrifice ourselves for the glory of His kingdom. We already possess all these things, but we must learn to grow into them. This makes me think of an infant prince who is given a king's royal robe and crown. Those coverings are fully his, along with all the rights and powers they represent. But it takes a lifetime of growth and maturing in all areas of life to grow into them, to correctly understand and accept and implement them wisely, to come into the fullness of the identity. I think the most basic reason that we sometimes fail to understand this fullness in us is that we fail to understand and wholly accept the complete fullness of who Jesus the Christ truly is. We don't grasp the preeminence of Christ, the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. We don't live with an awareness of Christ in you, the hope of glory. The philosophies and belief systems of the world dilute and delete His true identity, and even deceive believers. Marloes Posted May 15, 2010 Report Share Posted May 15, 2010 It means that Christ was fully human but also fully God. Without Christ we can't be complete because there will always be some emptiness. We can't understand because we think in human standards. 1 Kor 13:12 "12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known." Vincent Paul DiMino Posted May 15, 2010 Report Share Posted May 15, 2010 Jesus explained,that while no man had seen the Father, those chosen to be His, are allowed to see the Father in Him.He further explained that the pure of heart will see God.He told us,and Paul in particular,that his Grace is sufficient.When we approach Our Savior with pure hearts,the fullness of God is revealed to us,sufficiently to triumph over that which seeks to oppose His will in us.In this way,we may know the fullness of God,through Christ and by His Grace,take our parts within the structure of the Holy Temple of His Glory,being made holy to serve His purpose.Are we changed by this experience so that we may glow like Moses,after speaking face to face with God ? Jesus Christ is not only equal to God, He is God. He is God in bodily form. He is the visible image of the invisible God, he is the exact representation of God. He not only reflects God, but he reveals God to us. He is completely holy and central to the truth of Christianity. ' For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form'. this verse teach abt God dwells in his Son, the Messiah, the Christ. He does not dwell in us in the same degree as he dwells in his Son. We are merely creatures, fallen from God's perfect creation, who are being gradually restored by the Spirit to our full glory (2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:16-17). But Christ is not a created being, but the Creator himself, for "all things were created by him and for him" (1:16). Jesus is "one" with the Father (John 1:30), glorified with the Father before all creation (John 17:5). He is God in the flesh (John 1:14), the "only begotten God" (John 1:18, NASB). When we recieve Christ, our sin been clear and we able to reconcile with God. For he live in us and we live in him. DrD Posted May 17, 2010 Report Share Posted May 17, 2010 Christ's divinity according to verse 9 - first and foremost it tells us that Jesus and Gon are One therefore God dwells in Him fully and completely - the nature and attributes of God are in Him completely - not in any measure as it is in humanity - and that Christ has power and authority over all created things wherever they exist. . . we are complete or have come to fullness in Christ through our fellowship with Him wherein He dwells in us. . . This means that we must remian in Christ and that He must remian in us if we are to remain complete - if we are to retain our victory over sin, the world, the devil, and our flesh. . . Paul wants to be sure that his readers understand that there is no need to look anywhere else for more complete knowledge or spirituality. Jesus Christ is fully God in the flesh. Our "completeness" can only be found in Him. Without Him dwelling in us in the form of the Holy Spirit, we are "incomplete." "Christ in us, the hope of glory." Paul's prayer for the Christians in Ephesus describes the nature of the "fullness" of His presence within us: I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19 NIV) What an amazing blessing we have "in Him!" Perhaps we fail to understand this "fullness" because it's beyond human comprehension that the creator of the universe desires to have such an intimate relationship with us. Every aspect of the Godhead resides in Him....nothing less than the Father or the Holy Spirit! On earth He was fully man and fully God. In what sense are we "complete" or "come to fullness" in Christ? When we are in Christ, we lack nothing. The fullness of the Godhead dwells/lives in us. What does this mean? It means that though our bodies are gradually dying, our spirit is growing into the full stature He destined us to become. He has redeemed us! Why do we sometimes fail to understand this fullness? I think it's because we still see our flesh, we still sin and fall short, we still must depend upon Him completely to live in the fullness of Christ. We still hear the old messages from the past. We still have an enemy with a loud megaphone trying to convince us that nothing has changed, and to accuse and demean us. When we are in Christ, we have been filled with His Spirit & power. God is working in & through us for His glory. We have corruptible bodies filled with an incorruptible Spirit. We can't see it. We are too hard on ourselves, desiring perfection. All we can see is how we have failed God each day--thinking it's what we do that makes the difference. We can rest in Him & just "be."
