haar
From Jesus' teaching in the passage under consideration, those people who quickly fall are in following categories: 1. Those who hear the word but unbelief prevents them from accepting the word. The word does not actually get absorbed by them. They remain in their sins. 2. The second category are those who received the word but not deep into their heart. This can be easily snatched by the devil.
Leonard C
I can hardly explain it better than Jesus: "The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away." (Matthew 13:20-21) Roots come by
UncleBlake
Q1. (Matthew 13:20-21 ) Why, according to Jesus' teaching here, do some people fall away so quickly? What is their problem? Jesus' teaching falls away because the people with "the rocky ground" are shallow, and although the word may reach them and they are receptive, it fails to put down roots that grow deep. Without those deep roots, (growing deeper in the word and our relationship with Jesus and the Father), the plant withers and dies.
Moses 4
This is not to say that believers will not be saved, but just that one must endure in that belief, and act according to that belief in order to inherit the kingdom of heaven. We know that we will not be cast out by Jesus (John 6:37), but we have the option of casting Him out of our lives by our actions. We know that nothing exterior to us can separate us from God (Rom. 8:38-39), but our own interior actions, and bad responses to those things exterior, can do so. Pax. justfriendly
They fall away quickly because their priorities are varied and their interests quickly fade away. The different type of soils indicate the various types of persons in the world -their attitude to God words depend on their heart inclination. The failing to reach maturity is related to their dependency on Him and the assurance that His word iword will provide sustenable growth
RodR
Q1. (Matthew 13:20-21) Why, according to Jesus' teaching here, do some people fall away so quickly? What is their problem? Like seed on rocky soil, some people are quick to respond to the Word and begin to grow but their lack of a root system that goes deep into the Word results in a lack of nourishment that leads to their soul's drying out quickly. Perhaps the problem with rocky soil is that it needs to be broken. Repentance breaks up the rocky soul and makes it more receptive to the Word. FORWARD FELEX
Q1. (Matthew 13:20-21) Why, according to Jesus' teaching here, do some people fall away so quickly? What is their problem? Some people fall away from testifying the word of God when the time of trouble comes. They are normally driven by cosmic things. They face challenges which cannot allow them to think about God as the solution even though they received God's word. When one receives or accepts Jesus to control them, they open themselves to satan's temptations. Jesus Himself faced temptations in the wilderness. This tells that; when one passes the temptation, one opens a way ahead in God's awareness. We need not to allow tribulations to take us away from the line of God. We need to make less committments to material wealth and property. This too doesnot allow the "seed" to grow in us. Many people who keep their treasure on eart have a big problem of keeping God's word. Satan keeps on snatching what they get from them because their treasure relates a lot to satan. That's my point of view.
wifee
1a)Some people fallaway because when they initially heard the gospel their mind & heart was not really open, so the seed never had a chance to take root, & grow. Some people may have had a superficial faith where the seed had not taken root in all areas of their lives, & not caused a change of heart &lifestyle, perhaps with limited repentance. There faith could not develop & be nurtured to know how to live in God's ways, not with their own self-centred motives. There problem is that they do not have in sufficient a depth the Jesus' teachings& God's love in their heart & minds, which is needed to thwart the pull of the pressures within us and the world, leading us astray. We need to plant seed firmly, to resist satan's temptations, grow daily to know more of Jesus, and how we wants us to be and do everyday of our lives. linda bass
The reason some people fall away from following Christ so quickly is because they are not firmly rooted in the faith. So when persecution or hard times come upon them, they fall away from the faith.
saja3
I think according to Jesus teaching that people fall away so quickly because they become interested and excited about hearing the word and following Jesus. However, their focal point is divided among the worldly things which soon overpower them and they lose focus on the Word and therefore fall short. The problem is they are attempting to serve two gods which is impossible! For there is only one True God worthy.
quilter
1. I THINK WHEN WE HEAR THE WORD AND GET EXCITED ABOUT IT. WE HAVE TO STAY IN THE WORD, STUDY THE WORD TELL OTHERS ABOUT IT.IF WE DON'T IT IS EASY TO FALL AWAY.SOME THINKS IT IS TO MUCH TROUBLE BUT JUST A SHORT PERIOD EACH DAY WILL KEEP YOU IN THE THE WORD. THEN THERE ARE SOME THAT HEAR THE WORD AND NEVER USE IT. OUR JOB ON THIS EARTH IS TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL WITH A LOVING HEARTH.
