Pastors sometimes need a vacation, a retreat, a rest, another "voice" who can help their people. Dr. Ralph Wilson is available for pulpit supply in area churches. He has served in pastoral ministry for 42 years and has preached and shared Christ on four continents.

He has spoken in many churches in the Sacramento area — community churches of various types, Asian and African American congregations, Baptist, Congregational, Covenant, Christian, Church of the Brethren, you name it....

"The size of the church doesn't matter, nor the amount the church is able to pay," says Dr. Wilson. "Having served in small churches, I know firsthand the need for the pastor to get away, even though the church can't afford a preacher to fill the pulpit."

"I have no set fees for filling the pulpit. Pay me whatever your church usually pays, but only if your church can afford it."

"I see myself as a partner with the pastor's ministry. I ask: What spiritual goals are you working toward in your church at present? Then I try to adapt my sermon to help move the church towards that goal. I'm not there to 'do my own thing' or promote some agenda, but to work with the pastor to bring a fresh word from God to the people."

Brief Biography

Dr. Ralph Wilson has been in pastoral ministry since 1967. He served as a senior pastor in Southern California for 12 years, and was involved in church planting in Northern California for another 13 years. Since then he has served on the pastoral staffs of Sierra Christian Church and Community Covenant Church.

JesusWalk Bible Study SeriesDr. Wilson directs Joyful Heart Renewal Ministries (www.joyfulheart.com). He is the author of twenty books that make up the JesusWalk Bible Study Series (www.jesuswalk.com), an online Bible study ministry that enrolls thousands each month from around the world in e-mail Bible study courses. His most recent book is a curriculum for new Christian discipleship, JesusWalk: Beginning the Journey.

He was ordained under the auspices of the American Baptist Churches USA in 1977 and received Master of Divinity (1976) and Doctor of Ministry (1984) degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Dr. Wilson has travelled twice to western Kenya to train pastors there as well as lead the African Renewal Reconciliation Conference for pastors and leaders, equipping them to become agents of reconciliation in the aftermath of tribal violence in 2008 that killed 1,500 people. Video
 

He has organized and served as keynote speaker at many conferences. He is the author of twenty books and many online Bible studies. He served as keynote speaker at several recent conferences in the last two years.

  • African Renewal Reconciliation Conference, Eldoret, Kenya, September 2008. The conference was attended by 800 church leaders. Pastor Ralph brought twelve messages during the four-day conference.
  • Men's Retreats and Family Camps. Has led and spoken at men's retreats for many congregations.
  • "Experiencing the Psalms" Seminar, just outside of London, UK, February 2008, an all-day Saturday exploration of the Psalms at Frimley Baptist Church.
  • African Renewal Pastors Training Conference, Eldoret, Kenya, Four-day conference, September 2007.
